Farnborough is best known for its links to the aerospace industry and the world famous biennial Farnborough International Airshow. The event welcomes hundreds of trade exhibitors and the general public and it showcases impressive air displays from well known brands such as Boeing and Airbus.
The town has seen lots of pioneering work, from the first powered flight in Britain in 1908 to the first car to go supersonic on land in 1997. It has now become a popular commuter town for people working in London, due to its close proximity to the city. There is also a mainline train station and good access to the M3 motorway.
Farnborough also has its own business airport, located next to Farnborough Business Park. It is one of the largest of its kind in the country. It is here that the Farnborough International Airshow is held.
In the town centre, the Princes Mead Shopping Centre provides visitors with a selection of high street shops to browse during free time. Nearby attractions include the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust (FAST) Museum, Grade I and II listed Wind Tunnels and Farnborough Abbey.
As well as a thriving aerospace sector, Farnborough is also home to large private sector companies which include IBM and Zurich. The town’s thriving business sector and facilities make it an excellent choice for a conference or event.
